Scope

This document specifies recommended practices for the test and inspection of laser devices used for remote removal of foreign matter in public infrastructure equipment, which includes function and composition, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking and packaging, transportation and storage.

Purpose

The purpose of this recommended practice is to specify methods for testing and inspection of the laser devices used for remote removal of foreign matter in public infrastructure equipment installations. These methods can be used by utility and telecommunications staff to improve the ease of use of these laser devices in their intended applications and to help improve the reliability of their operation.

Abstract

New IEEE Standard - Active.Recommended practices for the test and inspection of laser devices used for remote removal of foreign matter in public infrastructure equipment are specified in this document. This includes function and composition, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking and packaging, and transportation and storage.
