This standard specifies the key management for blockchain and distributed ledger technologies, including the following: a) Key generation and storage modes that support multiple asymmetric encryption schemes; b) Derivation and use of multi-level hierarchical accounts used by root keys on different blockchain systems; c) Protocol specifications for mutual identity anchoring of public keys/addresses generated between different cryptography.
Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to: a) Provide a reference for the use and management of keys for organizations that plan to use blockchain and distributed ledger technology to build blockchain and distributed ledger systems; b) Guide the blockchain and distributed ledger service providers to establish key management modules for blockchain and distributed ledger systems; c) Provide a key management reference for middleware service organizations in the construction process of blockchain and distributed ledger systems.
Abstract
New IEEE Standard - Active.IEEE Std 3209 will unite many blockchain technology providers to jointly formulate international standards for hierarchical deterministic schemes, output uniform and standardized cryptographic derivation rules between different chains, and determine multiple blockchains through mutual signature and self-certification of private keys of different chains. The same identity corresponds to the public and private keys on the chain.
